These bars are constructed intheUnited States from 1.25 in (3.175 cm) diameter steel tubingwith0.079 in (2.0 mm) wall thickness. Boasting more than twicethestiffness compared to 1 in (2.54 cm) tubing， no other crashbardesign on the market offers such robust protection for theAfricaTwin. This added strength enabled AltRider engineers todesign theLower Crash Bars to take the first hit in a tip-over orlow-sidecrash before any of the bike’s vital components come incontactwith the ground. The hand-TIG welded crash bars are CNCmandrelformed around the rear brake lever for excellent ergonomicswhilestill providing powerful protection.The rear of the Lower Crash Bars mount in-board of the rightfootpeg by way of the 3／16 in (4.8 mm) mounting flanges， whichwilltransfer impact energy away from the motor to the lower frame.Upfront， 3／16 in (4.8 mm) thick stainless steel brackets fastensthebars directly to the frame.The Upper Crash Bars provide complete coverage for thebike’svulnerable radiator and expensive plastic fairings. The 1 in(2.54cm) diameter stainless steel tubing is hand-TIG welded in theUSAand mounts directly to frame rather than the engine case.The Lower and Upper Crash Bars meet at 3／16 in (4.8 mm)thickstainless steel mounting brackets， which tie to the frontsub-frameand headstock using included M6 bolts， a dramaticadvantage overall other designs on the market. This ensures a solidconnection tothe motorcycle’s frame， especially when installed inconjunctionwith the Reinforcement Crash Bars.
